Tumblewright

A daily safe-cracking puzzle

One small safe a day.

Turn the dial, watch the needle, listen for the click. Every safe you open adds a part to a clockwork machine, and a letter from the lockmaker who built them.

How a safe opens

  1. Turn

Sweep the dial. The needle rises as you near a wheel's number, so you can play with the sound off.

  2. Listen

Tap the stethoscope and sweep. A snick is the number, a tick is another wheel's, a tonk is a decoy.

  3. Open

Light every lamp and the door swings open. Fewer listens is better: try to beat par.

Free, with one optional Kit

Free, forever

  • Every daily safe
  • Unlimited practice safes
  • The share grid, your logbook and your rank
  • The home-screen widget, and a morning reminder if you turn it on
  • The whole first machine: all 7 of its parts and the first 7 letters

The Workshop Kit

One purchase, bought once: $4.99 in the US (the App Store shows your local price)

  • Every machine after the first, including new ones as they are added
  • Every letter after the seventh, including new ones
  • 3 desk themes, 2 finishes and 3 dial faces
  • The glass practice safe

Without the Kit you lose nothing you have earned: after the first machine, new parts wait in a crate and new letters stay sealed. Buy the Kit and everything opens at once. No currency, nothing random for sale, and no paying for listens, hints or past safes.

Nothing collected.

There are no accounts, no analytics and no tracking, and your workshop stays on your phone.
